Heroes That Counter Dirak

Dirak Dirak is a knockback control mage: skill 1 Astrolabe Astrolabe strikes forward and knocks enemy heroes back, skill 2 Fallen Star Fallen Star sets up a magic circle and drops a meteor that knocks back in the direction he chooses, skill 3 Genesis Barrier Genesis Barrier summons an energy barrier that blocks all enemy projectiles, and skill 4 Death Ray Cannon Death Ray Cannon fires the Death Ray Cannon for massive damage in a straight line. His Passive Magic Body Magic Body uses energy to absorb damage when his HP is about to run out, so Dirak usually survives longer than he looks. In exchange, he has no dash, his barrier only blocks projectiles, and all his crowd control is useless against CC-immune heroes. Area skills, melee attacks, silences and CC-immune heroes are what bother him most. Dirak Dirak ‘s counters include Liliana, Iggy, Kahlii in the mid lane, Yena, Florentino, Kil’Groth in the Dark Slayer lane, Yan, Wonder Woman, Paine in the jungle and Maloch, Chaugnar, Grakk as support.

Items That Counter Dirak

Gilded Greaves

Gilded Greaves Gilded Greaves grants 35% Resistance, reducing the duration of all types of crowd control, plus 60 movement speed. Dirak Dirak applies pressure mainly through the knockbacks of Astrolabe Astrolabe and Fallen Star Fallen Star , so the movement speed helps you step out of the circle before the meteor lands, while Resistance lets you regain control faster.

Medallion of Troy

Medallion of Troy Medallion of Troy grants up to 112 magic defense based on level, and its Guard passive creates a shield that absorbs 460 – 1300 magic damage whenever you leave combat. This shield soaks up the opening burst as you step into Dirak Dirak ‘s range, making it a great fit for fighters and assassins who need to charge through Fallen Star Fallen Star to catch him.

Gaia's Standard

The Recovery passive of Gaia's Standard Gaia's Standard restores 5% max HP over 2 seconds whenever you take damage (10-second cooldown), and Bloodline increases healing effectiveness by 5% for every 10% HP missing. When you have to stand inside Fallen Star Fallen Star to stick to Dirak Dirak , this healing helps the frontline hold out after each meteor wave.

How to Counter Dirak in a 1vs1

Use area skills while the barrier is up: Genesis Barrier Genesis Barrier blocks all projectiles but can’t stop on-the-spot area skills or melee attacks. When Dirak raises his barrier, switch to area skills or back off until it fades; don’t dump projectiles into it.

Step out of the circle immediately: Fallen Star Fallen Star takes a moment before the meteor lands, and Dirak can choose the knockback direction. When you see the circle under your feet, move out right away instead of standing there trading skills.

Close in right after Astrolabe is used: Dirak has no dash. Once Astrolabe Astrolabe has been cast, he’s lost his closest-range knockback, and that’s when melee heroes should dive in.

Don’t let up when he’s low: His passive Magic Body Magic Body uses energy to absorb damage when his HP is about to run out. A low HP bar doesn’t mean he’s about to die; factor in his remaining energy before getting greedy with the chase.

How to Counter Dirak in Team Fights

Bait out the barrier before the fight: Throw a less important projectile skill so Dirak activates Genesis Barrier Genesis Barrier early, then send in your carries. While the barrier is on cooldown, your marksmen and mages can fire freely.

Don’t line up: The cannon blast fires in a straight line with massive damage, while Fallen Star Fallen Star knocks back a whole area. Spread out horizontally so a single shot can’t hit multiple people.

Send in CC-immune heroes: All of Dirak’s crowd control is knockback. Heroes like Yena, Yan or Kil’Groth make Astrolabe Astrolabe useless once their CC immunity is up, so let them start the fight.

Pick him off when he’s alone: With no dash or escape, Dirak is very easy to catch when he strays from his team. A single silence or stun is enough to take him down before he can raise his barrier.

Tips for Countering Dirak

Strengths to Watch Out For

  • Astrolabe and Fallen Star knock back repeatedly, forcing enemies out of position.
  • Genesis Barrier blocks all projectiles, neutralizing the opponent’s skillshots.
  • Death Ray Cannon (skill 4) deals massive damage in a straight line and can be used independently of the barrier.
  • Magic Body uses energy to absorb damage when HP is about to run out, making him harder to kill than he looks.

Weaknesses to Exploit

  • No dash or escape, easy to pick off.
  • His CC is only knockback, useless against CC-immune heroes.
  • The barrier only blocks projectiles, not area skills or melee attacks.
  • Getting silenced or stunned costs him both his defense and his counterattack.
