How to Use Yan's Skills Effectively

Passive Flash of Inspiration :

  • Once the passive gauge is full, land a basic attack to trigger the enhanced strike, dealing a special effect, healing yourself, and gaining attack speed.
  • If you want to trigger Skill 1’s special effect Splash Ink , use Skill 1 Splash Ink to trigger the first passive point, and similarly for Skill 2 Coiling Dragon .

Skill 1 Splash Ink :

  • When enhanced, this skill deals area damage and knocks up targets.
  • Use this ability to clear minions fast or attack and control multiple enemy heroes at once in fights.

Skill 2 Coiling Dragon :

  • Use the terrain-crossing dash to close in or escape dangerous situations.
  • Since Skill 2 grants crowd-control immunity plus damage immunity, time it well to dodge the enemy’s important skills.
  • When enhanced, this skill makes dive into the enemy and re-activate the skill once more.
  • Mainly stack the passive Flash of Inspiration using Skill 2 Coiling Dragon throughout the match so you can keep diving in with crowd-control and damage immunity continuously.

Skill 3 Crushing Mountain :

  • You’ll gain crowd-control and damage immunity right when you activate the ultimate, so use that to dodge the enemy’s important skills.
  • After one second, deals damage around them while empowering themselves for 8 seconds.
  • The empowerment effect depends on how many points you’ve put into Skill 3.
  • With 1 point in Skill 3: you can re-activate it a second time to dash across terrain and knock up the target, plus increase the damage of your other skills along with armor penetration.
  • With 2 points in Skill 3: the enhanced basic attack from the passive Flash of Inspiration landing on a target extends Skill 3’s empowered state and lets you reuse Skill 3 multiple times.
  • With 3 points in Skill 3: using enhanced strikes refunds one stack of the passive Flash of Inspiration .
  • Note: at 2 points you keep the effect from 1 point, and at 3 points you get all the effects combined.

How to Play Yan in the Early Game

Entering the match, while moving to lane or the jungle, use Skill 1 Splash Ink twice to pre-stack the enhanced strike, speeding up your minion or monster clear.

If you’re jungling, start from the blue buff first since costs energy to use skills.

Pull the stag beetle close to the blue buff to use the enhanced Skill 1 Splash Ink to attack both targets at once.

If you’re in top lane, clear minions quickly to hit level 2 before the enemy, creating a gap to combo and finish them off, or at least pressure their lane.

How to Play Yan in the Mid Game

By the mid game, take full advantage of your mobility by rotating lanes to gank and continuously invading the enemy jungle to snowball, aiming to end the match early before the late game, since isn’t a strong hero when the match drags on.

Mainly stack the passive Flash of Inspiration with Skill 2 Coiling Dragon and combine it with Skill 3 Crushing Mountain to open fights and dive in aggressively during small and medium skirmishes.

With your high mobility plus crowd-control and damage immunity, target the enemy team’s key carries and dive in to combo and finish them off.

How to Play Yan in the Late Game

By the late game, ‘s impact in full team fights decreases significantly since enemy heroes are nearly fully built, making them hard to finish off quickly.

So the best strategy at this stage is to take advantage of your mobility to push minion waves on side lanes, and if there’s an opportunity, take an enemy tower — this can force the enemy team to split up to defend, creating opportunities for you to pick off their carries alone.

If you must join a full team fight, wait for an opportunity rather than diving in recklessly — be patient until you see an opening, then quickly dive in to combo and finish off the enemy marksman, increasing your overall chances of winning the match.
