Hayate Counters 2026: Best Counter Picks & Builds

Stuart

Most of Hayate’s damage is physical: his basic attacks, every shuriken from Shuriken Toss and Kunai Blitz all deal physical damage. Skill 2 Blood Shadow Eye of Stuart grants physical damage immunity and bonus movement speed. When Hayate unloads Shuriken Toss or blinks in with his ultimate, Stuart only needs to activate it to negate most of the attack. The true damage from Blood of the Dragon only kicks in after 6 hits, so use it early against Blood Shadow Eye instead of waiting until he has fully stacked it. As soon as Hayate has used Shadow Step , Stuart uses Destructive Blast to dash in and slow him. Follow up with Death Missile to finish him off while charging energy for Empowered Physique .

Alice

Alice has all the tools to pin Hayate in place and protect her team’s marksman. Sunshine stuns whoever it hits; cast it right after Hayate has used Shadow Step so he has no dash left to dodge with. Her ultimate Hissy Fit creates an energy field that continuously slows, and anyone who steps in is silenced for 1 second: while silenced, Hayate can’t cast Kunai Blitz or dash out and is left with only basic attacks. When he blinks in with Kunai Blitz to hunt the backline, Friendship shields the targeted ally and grants them movement speed, helping them run out of the shuriken zone. Her passive Trot grants movement speed after each skill cast, keeping Alice in the right position.

Wukong

Hayate lives on distance, and Wukong specializes in closing that gap out of nowhere. Shadow Clone puts Wukong into stealth and grants movement speed, letting him approach from the bushes before Hayate can Shadow Step away. Every skill cast empowers his next basic attack and makes him instantly leap to the target thanks to his passive God Of War , which also comes with built-in crit chance. Monkey Business stuns Hayate in place and can be recast within 5 seconds to go invisible and pull out. Great Sage boosts both armor and magic defense to soak some of the shurikens if he manages to use Kunai Blitz . Wait for Hayate to burn Shadow Step on minions or on your teammates before diving in.

Veera

Veera is a burst mage with a fast magic-damage combo and a targeted stun, ideal for catching a marksman with no CC immunity like Hayate. Mesmerize deals magic damage and stuns briefly. Throw it right when Hayate has just used Shadow Step to close in, or has just landed with Kunai Blitz . Then chain Hell Bat and Inferno Bats with up to 5 Inferno Bats to finish him before he lands the 6 hits for Blood of the Dragon . The passive Come Hither grants 25% movement speed out of combat, so Veera can rotate to support the Dragon Lane faster. Don’t throw Mesmerize while he still has Shadow Step, because he can dash out of it and counterattack.

Omen

Hayate survives by dashing and dodging, and Omen has an ultimate that takes that away. Death's Embrace lunges at the first enemy hero hit and creates a death arena: for 5 seconds the target deals reduced damage and cannot escape, so Shadow Step no longer helps him get away. Death's Beckon pulls him closer and slows him when he stays out of range. While he’s trapped, Untouchable gives Omen damage immunity and movement speed for 2 seconds, and Hayate’s basic attacks on Omen are reflected back, dealing physical damage and slowing him. At 5 stacks of Thirst , Omen’s attacks deal bonus true damage. You can combine it with Flicker to land a surprise Death’s Embrace.
