Heroes That Counter Yue
Items to Counter Yue
Yue
deals magic damage in waves of tablets, the most dangerous being the double-damage burst at the intersection. The Protection layer of
Medallion of Troy
absorbs 460 – 1300 magic damage whenever you leave combat, so her first few pokes mostly just hit that shield, not to mention up to 112 magic defense based on level.
Yue usually pokes from range and then waits for her skills to come back. Each time you’re hit by a tablet, the Recovery passive of
Gaia's Standard
restores 5% max HP over 2 seconds (10-second cooldown), and Bloodline adds 5% more healing for every 10% HP missing, helping you hold lane longer between
Yue
‘s waves of
Cleave the Realm
and
Sever Heaven and Earth
.
The Divine Intervention passive of
Death Sickle
makes you immune to lethal damage and invulnerable for 0.75 seconds, extended to 1.5 seconds after carrying it for 4 minutes, plus 25% movement speed and 25% attack speed. When
Yue
thinks she has finished you off with a burst at the jade tablets’ intersection, this invulnerability window lets you survive and counterattack while her skills are on cooldown.
How to Counter Yue in a 1vs1 Solo
Move sideways, don’t stand at the intersection:
Cleave the Realm
and
Sever Heaven and Earth
deal double damage where the two jade tablets cross. Keep strafing sideways so she can’t predict the intersection, and you’ll only take half the damage.
Count Sovereignty stacks: After each cast of skill 1 and skill 2, her passive
Sovereignty
empowers and refreshes both skills. When you see Yue just unload both skills, wait out the second empowered wave instead of rushing in.
Strike after she jumps back:
Sovereign's Path
is Yue’s only escape. Once she has used it to push you away, that’s when divers should turn back and burst her.
Recall when low: Yue can burst very quickly if she lands the intersection. Don’t try to hold lane on low HP, because one empowered tablet wave is enough to send you to the death screen.
How to Counter Yue in Team Fights
Focus Yue first: Yue’s kit has no shield, healing or CC immunity. Once you reach her, the whole team should burst her first so she can’t unload her second wave of tablets.
Carries keep moving: Marksmen and mages should avoid standing still, because standing still lets Yue easily land the tablet intersection on them.
Use CC-immune heroes to dive: Yue’s only crowd control is the knockback from
Sovereign's Path
. Against heroes like Nakroth, Aoi or Kaine, the knockback does nothing once they’re CC-immune.
Watch out for vision after the leap: Sovereign’s Path also grants Yue extra vision after leaping back. Don’t assume she’s gone; move as a group instead of chasing her alone into the bushes.
