Heroes That Counter Evita

Evita is a Mid lane mage who thrives on shields and area magic damage. Her Passive Umbral Origin Umbral Origin builds up dark energy over time; once full, her next skill that hits a target summons the Abyssal Beast to charge in, dealing damage and creating a shield. Skill 1 Abyssal Assault Abyssal Assault explodes into energy bolts, Skill 2 Hand of Abyss Hand of Abyss creates a rift that slows and, after a delay, knocks up enemies in the center, and her ultimate Umbral Cloak Umbral Cloak grants a shield and slows, then lets the Beast seek targets on its own, reducing magic defense and continuing to shield her. Evita Evita ‘s weaknesses are no dash, low movement speed, a weak early game, and fairly long cooldowns on Skill 2 and her ultimate. Diving her quickly, using hard CC and bursting her after she has used Skill 2 is the most effective way to counter her. Evita Evita ‘s nemeses are Dirak, D’Arcy in the Mid lane, Zanis, Nakroth in the jungle, Amily in the Dark Slayer lane and Grakk as support.

Items that counter Evita

Medallion of Troy

The Guard passive grants a barrier that absorbs 460 – 1300 magic damage after leaving combat, plus magic defense that scales with level from Inner Strength. All of Evita’s damage is magic damage, so this barrier fully absorbs the first Abyssal Assault explosion or the Hand of Abyss rift when she starts a fight.

Gaia's Standard

Gaia’s Standard provides lots of HP and magic defense, plus the Recovery passive that restores 5% max HP over 2 seconds whenever you take damage, with a stronger effect the lower your HP. It suits fighters and tanks who have to stand in the area where the Abyssal Beast keeps seeking and attacking targets.

Gilded Greaves

Evita’s CC comes from the knock-up in the center of Hand of Abyss and the slow from Umbral Cloak. Gilded Greaves grant 35% Resistance, shortening CC duration so you can escape or close in on her in time.

How to counter Evita in 1vs1

Pressure her early: Evita clears waves slowly and is weak early on. Trade aggressively, force her to back off and call your jungler for help before she gets her ultimate.

Dodge the rift, then counterattack: Hand of Abyss Hand of Abyss has a short delay before it erupts and is her only CC skill. When you see the rift appear, step out of the center, then go in right away while it’s on cooldown.

Watch her energy bar: When her dark energy is full, her next skill that hits you summons the Abyssal Beast and gives Evita a shield. Don’t stand within range of Abyssal Assault Abyssal Assault at that moment; wait for her to spend it on minions before trading.

How to counter Evita in teamfights

Don’t clump up: The center of Hand of Abyss Hand of Abyss knocks up and deals more damage, so spread out to stop her from grouping your whole team before she follows up with Abyssal Assault Abyssal Assault and Umbral Cloak Umbral Cloak .

Strike fast once she uses her ultimate: During Umbral Cloak Umbral Cloak , the Abyssal Beast seeks targets on its own, reduces magic defense and keeps shielding Evita. Burst her down right at the start, or back out of the Beast’s range and come back when the effect ends.

Dive straight into the backline: Evita has no dash. Assassins and fighters like Nakroth Nakroth and Zanis Zanis only need to get past the frontline to take her down, especially after she has used Skill 2.

Build magic defense: Having Medallion of Troy Medallion of Troy or Gaia's Standard Gaia's Standard on your frontline helps your team withstand her area damage for longer.

  • Weak early game and slow wave clear.
  • Hand of Abyss is her only CC skill and has a fairly long cooldown, so missing it throws off her rhythm.
