Notes on Ryoma's Item Build

  • If your mechanical skill is clearly better than your opponent’s, you can go full damage; if you want to play like the pros, hybrid is more suitable.
  • If the enemy team has strong healing, build Curse of Death instead of Rankbreaker .

How to Play Ryoma

How to Combo Ryoma

Basic Ryoma combo:

  • Dash with Skill 1 Pinwheel to a position within range to cast at the enemy.
  • Use the empowered basic attack from passive Naginatajutsu to slow the enemy.
  • Use Skill 2 Wailing Blade to stun the enemy.
  • Cast Skill 3 Spectral Ire to burst the enemy while healing yourself.
  • Finally, activate Skill 1 Pinwheel a 2nd time to chase the enemy or retreat depending on the situation.

How to Use Ryoma's Skills Effectively

Passive Naginatajutsu :

  • Watch the red passive bar under your health bar, which fills up every 5 seconds.
  • Use this empowered basic attack to poke, clear minions fast, or contest objectives.
  • Pick a distance so the enemy gets hit in the latter half of the skill’s range for bonus damage.

Skill 1 Pinwheel :

  • Use its terrain-crossing dash to suddenly close in on the enemy or escape a dangerous situation.
  • Try to dash across terrain (turrets count too) or hit an enemy hero to reactivate the dash once more.
  • Note: swipe in the opposite direction of where you want to dash.

Skill 2 Wailing Blade :

  • Pick a distance so the enemy gets hit in the latter half of the skill’s range, stunning them.
  • Take advantage of its big damage and fairly long range to poke, clear minions fast, or contest objectives
  • You can combine Skill 2 with Flicker to catch the enemy off guard.

Skill 3 Spectral Ire :

  • Take advantage of its wide-area damage to clear minions fast or attack multiple enemy heroes at once.
  • Use it continuously to take advantage of its fast cooldown and continuous healing, helping you kite better.
  • You can combine Skill 3 with Flicker for a surprise burst.

How to Play Ryoma in the Early Game

In the early game, if you’re playing top lane, use your skills to clear minions fast while poking in short bursts.

Don’t trade blood in an all-in duel with the enemy hero — wait for the passive Naginatajutsu bar to fill, then dive in to unload damage and pull back; just a few rounds of this and you’ll completely dominate your opponent.

If you’re jungle, you can start with the red buff first, since Ryoma costs no energy to use skills.

Use Skill 1 Pinwheel to dash through jungle camps to quickly finish your route.

How to Play Ryoma in the Mid Game

By the mid game, Ryoma has big damage and high mobility, so clear minions and monsters fast then rotate to gank, push turrets, and secure objectives with your allies, or you can invade the enemy jungle.

Move into blind spots or bushes, then suddenly dash with Skill 1 Pinwheel to close in on your opponent and combo, catching them off guard and increasing your chance to secure the kill.

How to Play Ryoma in the Late Game

By the late game, take advantage of your mobility to split push, but always watch for a fight breaking out and return right away to join your allies.

In a fight, poke and wait for the right moment to dive in and use Skill 2 Wailing Blade to stun the enemy’s core damage dealer, then take them down together with your allies to secure the overall win for you and your team.

Also don’t forget to attack Tier-3 Dragon and Caesar for important buffs, greatly increasing your win rate.
