How to Combo Thane
Basic
Thane
combo:
- Use Skill 2
Avalon's Fury
to knock up the enemy. - Activate Skill 1
Valiant Charge
to shove the target into a disadvantageous position. - Slash with Skill 3
Excalibur
to help finish off the opponent.
Note that Skill 1
Valiant Charge
and Skill 2
Avalon's Fury
cast fairly slowly and can be interrupted, so use them cleverly or combine them with
Flicker
for better accuracy.
How to Use Thane's Skills Effectively
Passive
Royal Power
:
- Always factor in the health you’ll regain and the damage immunity when
Thane
‘s health drops below 30%, to hold the lane and fight longer.
Skill 1
Valiant Charge
:
- Use the push effect to shove the enemy into a disadvantageous position, save a teammate being closed in on, or escape dangerous situations.
- Take advantage of the multi-target knockback to dive in and break the enemy formation extremely effectively.
Skill 2
Avalon's Fury
:
- Use the ability to knock up multiple enemy heroes while dealing damage to open fights very well.
- Take advantage of the terrain-crossing jump to surprise-control enemies or escape a fight.
Skill 3
Excalibur
:
- Use the wide range and large true damage to deal massive damage to multiple targets or clear minions to push the lane.
- Since this skill deals bonus damage based on the enemy’s missing health, you can time it to burst a low-health enemy to a surprise death.
- Take advantage of the crowd-control and damage immunity while casting to dodge important enemy skills.
How to Play Thane in the Early Game
Entering the match, if you’re playing support, move out early to mid lane and hide in a bush waiting for the enemy hero to come out, then flank behind them and use Skill 1
Valiant Charge
to shove them toward your ally for a burst of damage.
Then continue helping clear minions quickly and move to the bottom lane to guard your marksman’s farm. On the way back you can dip into the enemy jungle to harass them while securing vision for your team.
If you’re soloing top lane, play actively, keep farming minions, and trade skills with the enemy to pressure their lane, since
Thane
is very tanky with no small amount of damage either.
How to Play Thane in the Mid Game
By the mid game, rotate lanes to help teammates open fights, push towers, and attack major objectives like Dragon and Caesar.
Cleverly move into blind corners, then suddenly combo a knock-up and shove the enemy toward your teammates to finish off. Prioritize targeting immobile enemies, which are easier to take down.
Thane
becomes extremely tanky while the passive
Royal Power
is active, so play aggressively and dive in repeatedly, but be more careful once it’s already healed up.
How to Play Thane in the Late Game
By the late game, always move with your team to be ready to open fights and protect your allies when a fight breaks out.
In fights, always move at the front line to shield your teammates from damage, then look for a good opportunity to dive in and knock up as many enemy heroes as possible.
Then use Skill 1
Valiant Charge
to shove the enemy carry, such as their marksman or mid laner, toward your team for a burst, then skillfully use Skill 3
Excalibur
to hit as many targets as possible for massive damage.
Depending on the situation, either keep chasing the enemy carry or stay back to guard your teammates as they mop up the remaining enemies for the final win of the fight and the whole match.
