Best Max Build, Arcana & Guide for 2026

Max
Introduction to Max
▼Max is a Tank in Arena of Valor who plays the Top Lane. His passive, Static Shock, makes every hit from Max deal true damage over time and reduce the target's healing, which is very useful against heroes that rely on sustain.
Bionic Blender spins his mechanical arms to deal physical damage and grants movement speed for each enemy hit, while Smooth Moves leaps over a target, briefly stuns it and gives him a damage-reduction shield. His ultimate, Liftoff, is the standout: it scans for and reveals all enemy heroes, interrupts their recall, then lets him fly straight at a chosen target and knock them back.
Despite being a Tank, Max leans toward damage: his damage rating is high, but his health is not thick and his crowd control is limited, with medium difficulty. This Max guide covers the item build, Arcana, Enchantments, summoner spells, combos, skill usage and how to play through each phase of the match.

How to Play Max in the Early Game
Before you have your ultimate, focus on farming and holding your lane, since
Max
is fairly weak compared to other heroes.
Use Skill 1
Bionic Blender
to clear minions fast while poking the enemy; a trick is to land a skill on the enemy then retreat, letting passive
Static Shock
take effect and gradually chip away at their health.
Avoid pushing your lane too far, since it’s hard to escape a gank because
Max
has very poor mobility.
How to Play Max in the Mid Game
By the mid game,
Max
mainly relies on his ultimate to gank continuously, so always watch the minimap.
Prioritize using your ultimate
Liftoff
to chase low-health or low-mobility enemies for an easier kill.
Also watch your team’s and the enemy’s positions to avoid diving too deep into the enemy formation without an ally nearby to help.
If you’re diving in and it looks bad, reactivate your ultimate to cancel the skill.
How to Play Max in the Late Game
By the late game, split push but always watch both teams to be ready to rush in and join a fight that breaks out.
The playstyle in this phase is fairly simple: your only goal is to use Skill 3
Liftoff
on the enemy’s core damage dealer and do everything you can to take them down, even trading your own life.
The longer the match drags on, the worse it is for
Max
, so find a way to end the game as soon as possible.
