How to Play Marja
How to Combo Marja
Basic
Marja
combo:
- Use Skill 1
Wave of Agony
once to send the raven to your desired position. - Reactivate Skill 1 to teleport there, then use Skill 2
Soul-Devouring Worm
to drain the opponent’s damage. - Activate Skill 3
Vile Spirit
to stick close and silence the enemy, combined with basic attacks and Skill 2
Soul-Devouring Worm
to make up for damage since Skill 3’s damage has been reduced compared to before. - Continuously spam skills for slow and healing combined with basic attacks to finish off the enemy.
Depending on the situation you can use a different skill order, but the key thing to remember when comboing
Marja
is staying close and grinding it out with your opponent to unlock this hero’s full power.
How to Use Marja's Skills Effectively
Passive
Soul Curse
:
- Watch the passive bar under
Marja
‘s health bar. - Land skills on the enemy to fill the passive bar.
- The more charges on the passive bar, the harder
Marja
hits and heals.
Skill 1
Wave of Agony
:
- Use this long-range skillshot to close in or retreat from a dangerous situation.
- You can send the raven to your desired position first, combo other skills, then quickly teleport there.
Skill 2
Soul-Devouring Worm
:
- Play
Marja
in a grinding style with the enemy to maximize this skill’s damage-draining ability. - Watch the amount drained shown on your support spell icon — the higher it is, the more damage you’ll drain.
Skill 3
Vile Spirit
:
- Use this skill when you need to dive into a fight or dodge big damage sources, since the enemy can’t target you.
- Take advantage of the speed boost to stick close to the target while the skill is active for damage, and it silences them when it ends.
- You can activate Skill 3 immediately when crowd-controlled to cleanse it right away, increasing your outplay potential.
- You can combine it with
Flicker
while using Skill 3 to stick to the enemy better. - The damage dealt while Skill 3 is active has been reduced quite a bit compared to before, so don’t expect the ultimate alone to secure a kill — combine it with Skill 2’s drain and basic attacks to make up for the missing damage.
How to Play Marja in the Early Game
Before level 4,
Marja
is fairly weak compared to other heroes, so focus on clearing minions fast and holding your lane.
Avoid pushing too far, since it’s hard to escape a gank; instead, hold a backward position and take advantage of Skill 2’s
Soul-Devouring Worm
damage drain to gain an edge whenever trading skills with the enemy.
How to Play Marja in the Mid Game
By the mid game,
Marja
is much stronger once she has her ultimate, so actively rotate to join small skirmishes as well as coordinating with allies to push turrets and attack major objectives.
Remember this hero is strong when grinding it out with her opponent but has no pick tool, so avoid ganking alone — instead, try to call your allies to organize fights.
How to Play Marja in the Late Game
By the late game,
Marja
becomes extremely annoying with Skill 3’s
Vile Spirit
crowd-control cleanse, untargetability, and her endless sustain.
Always move with your team to be ready for full team fights; in a fight, stay outside and poke the enemy while waiting for an opportunity.
When you see a chance to take down the enemy’s core damage dealer, or if you get hard crowd-controlled, immediately activate your ultimate to dive in and burst the enemy marksman.
Don’t chase an enemy hero who runs too far from the fight — instead, grind it out with the targets who stay, which suits
Marja
better.
